Puttin' On The Ritz
The Spring 2012 Concert featured the works of George and Ira Gershwin, Irving Berlin and Cole Porter. Songs included well-known standards such as God Bless America, Summertime from Porgy and Bess and Someone to Watch Over Me. The music was very familiar with many members of the audience sharing that they knew every song.
The soloists, all SDCS members, gave wonderful performances and included: Roo Brown, Nancy Fisher, Ann and Richard Freeman, Beverly Kenner, Jillian and Galen Queen, John Ranney, Dara Schumaier and Taylor Thornburg.
The seventy singers were under the expert direction of John Ranney and ably accompanied by the trio of Barry Eli on piano, Bruce Chappelle on bass and Ken Schlieffer on percussion.
All three performances were well-attended and well-received. See the Bravo page for many wonderful comments.

The Southern Delaware Choral Society was created to bring quality choral music to southern Delaware and to provide singers with the opportunity to enhance their musical knowledge and skills. Two concerts are presented annually with two performances (sometimes three) of each concert performed in a variety of Sussex County venues. John Ranney is our conductor with Rebecca McDaniel serving as rehearsal accompanist. Gail Launay is our Executive Director.
This program is made possible, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
